[BOOKISH TAG] OMG That Song Book Tag

Hello, lovelies! 🌵 I’m back with another fun book tag, this one is about music and books which are two things I truly enjoy.

1. MY JAM – a song you MUST listen to every time it comes on, no matter how old or how many times you’ve listened to it / a book you’ll never get sick of

The first question and I was already having a hard time picking only one option! But for this question I picked I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys. I’ve loved this song since I was a little girl and every time it comes on I have to listen and sing (this includes most of the Backstreet Boys songs 💜)

For the book, I picked: Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas. I’ve re-read this book a thousand times, I never get bored of it. I have a lot of favorites re-reads but this one is so precious, I just love everything about it.

2. THROWBACK – a song that reminds you of the cringest time of your life / a book that also reminds you of this time (or just something you wouldn’t like as much if you picked it up for the first time now)

(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ this one was hard because I don’t think I’ve had a cringe moment in my life? But, 9th grade was maybe the weirdest moment if I need to pick one moment. I started in a new school, it was the year my group of friends started finding other hobbies besides hanging out together. So, for music, I picked one that while is not cringy it does remind me of that time Our Lips Are Sealed by Hilary and Hailye Duff. Who else remembers this song? (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

For the book, I had the perfect one: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer because I read it in 9th grade and I enjoyed it – something I would never do if I were to read it now.

3. REPLAY – a recent song you have on repeat right now / a recent favorite book

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with So Bad by Stayc. I love the song, the voices, and just the overall feeling of it. Every month I have a song on repeat mixed with old and new favorites, lately, So Bad has been on repeat.

As some of you may know After Felix by Lily Morton is my favorite book of the year since I read it in August. I’ve read many, amazing books this year but After Felix is, without doubt, my most recent favorite.

4. GETS ME – this song IS ME / this book is me in book form

I don’t have a specific song that represents ME, but every time I listen to The Climb by Miley Cyrus I do identify with the song and the meaning behind it, it always brings me a sense of nostalgia (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

In the book world, definitively Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (the only book I truly like by this author). Cath is a shy girl, she loves reading, writing, and fanfiction so yeah, I do identify with her.

5. WUT – weird but I like it? – a unique book that stuck out to you for whatever reason

I haven’t listened to a ‘weird’ song, but, one that has been different is All The Things She Said by t.A.T.u. Not weird, but definitively the most different song in my music history (☞゚ヮ゚)☞ ☜(゚ヮ゚☜) I do enjoy it when I listen to it tho ;D

As for the book, this is the weirdest and the one I WILL NEVER READ. This one stuck out for all the wrong reasons: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I get uncomfortable just thinking about this book, a DNF for me.

6. LET’S GO – best pump up song (for workouts or just life) – a book that inspired you

A lot of songs come to my mind for best pump-up songs but for this one I picked Neverland by U-KISS which is a very nightclub/let’s run forever type of song. The video is amazing and the dance too so yeah, pump up indeed.

A book that has inspired me a lot is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I first read it in High School and is one of my favorite books. The writing is simple but very beautiful, especially the meaning behind the book.

7. CHILL – fav chill, relaxing song / a book you’d curl up with and read on a rainy day

Chill songs are not often something I listen to, so I picked a slow ballad for this one Falling in Love (사랑에 빠지다) by Kim Tae Woo. I had other options from Super Junior KRY and the songs from Stairway to Heaven which okay it may not be chill but they are all slow ballads which calm me and are perfect to put before going to bed ♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ

For a book, I picked Wild by Adrienne Wilder which I’ve reread a thousand times and love it. The theme is not something everyone would curl up and read on a rainy day but I do enjoy the slow burn, the drama, and the rush in the final chapters. The romance is amazing!

8. ADDICTING – guilty pleasure song – one that’s catchy and addicting but not a whole lot of substance / guilty pleasure/trashy/fast/light read

OKAY I HAVE A LOT OF ADDICTING SONGS but I picked this one Cool for the Summer by Demi Lovato, it does have substance – you know, is a festival song for summer and to go wild, it doesn’t need to have a lot of substance to it but is a fun one, everything in this song makes me want to put the volume up to 50 and just have fun.

This book is by no means trashy/light read but it is MY GUILTY PLEASURE and this book is Just a Bit Ruthless by Alessandra Hazard. I’m not always comfortable with S&M play but this book is that and more – mostly, a re-read that makes me so happy and giddy, it is a guilty pleasure indeed ~(˘▾˘~)

9. NOSTALGIA – throwback you look back on fondly / a book you read forever ago that you look back on fondly or reminds you of a happy childhood time

For songs, I was between Aqua, Melody, Chayanne, and Las Ketchup but ended up choosing Barbie Girl by Aqua. Who did not listen to this song when they were growing up? I still do – even when the meaning behind the song is not exactly child-appropriate XD

As for books, to end up this fun tag I picked Había una vez by Herminio Almendros. Translated to Once Upon a Time is a book of multiple short stories all starting with the line: Once Upon a Time. I read is a young girl and I still have a copy plus, I first read it when I was a child in my home country which always makes me nostalgic and happy, the author lived in my home country for a time so that makes me even more nostalgic.

Thank you Riddhi for tagging me, it was fun! (。◕‿◕。)

    1. You should do it soon, it was very fun to find songs and books with the themes [so many choices!] Hilary’s song, it was very addicting back then but that music video omg the cringe!!! I do enjoy t.a.t.u but is not a sound I navigate towards often, I used to listen to them when I was a teenager and really liked them back then! BARBIE GIRL IS SUPERB ❤
