[HAUL] March Book Haul (get ready to read)

Hello, lovelies! 🌱 the third month of the year is over and I cannot believe it! Time is literally flying. In February I did not buy books, but this month was the opposite. Boy, oh boy, this month I felt so naughty buying mangas with steamy boy love scenes – which I’m currently hiding in plain sight hoping no one sees them. Since the beginning of this month, I’ve felt more compulsive towards buying mangas and listening to audiobooks instead of picking up new reads – physical or Kindle.

But, I did manage to get some Kindle Unlimited books and free audiobooks which I will be sharing below.

I started the month with mangas. I bought Kimi ni Todoke by Shina Karuho volumes 2 to 10 (I got volume 1 back in January). I’m currently reading volume 5 and I cannot express how cute these volumes are. In my March Readings post, I spoke of some of the books I was currently reading and these volumes were up there. The story line is very simple, cute and overall it revolves around a soft, lovely romance and everlasting friendship.

I also bought The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden. I haven’t read it yet, but I look forward to it. I have seen it around and now that I believe the series is complete, I will take this month to dive into it.

Ten Count volume 2 to 6 by Takarai Rihito was also added to my collection. I bought volume 1 back in January, having read the manga online I wanted physical copies even with steamy scenes. But, apart from the scenes, the book touches a topic that I believe is well described (though the way is being treated is not real people, so don’t go in expecting something, is a boy love manga after all) and that even at the end, it is not cured completely – giving the reader a sense of reality that even in books, not everything is cured, especially an illness.

I have been a fan of Nekota Yonezou for years, the manga series Don’t Be Cruel which is still unfinished, is a series which I’ve been following forever now. It starts very weak but it picks up – is not all about the sexy scenes but it also contains topic such as rape, trust, self-esteem, life after high school, how looks impact when it comes to society and life in general. It’s funny, light in some chapters, harsh in others but overall is a series where you see the characters growing and maturing.

In Kindle Unlimited I downloaded Heart of the Fae: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling (The Otherworld Book 1) by Emma Hamm. I haven’t read anything by this author but the plot caught my attention. I look forward to reading it this month!

isn’t this cover stunning!

I also got Blindsided (Fake Boyfriend Book 4) by Eden Finley. I adore this author, her Fake Boyfriend series has been hot, full of loving characters and amazing relationships. I’ve been waiting for this book since book 3 was released and I’m jumping over the roof in happiness. I will be for sure read this one soon!

Amy Harmon has been one of my favorite authors since I read Making Faces (a book that broke my heart). She recently released What the Winds Knows which is considered historical – a genre I love. It comes with an audiobook so tomorrow on my way to work I will plug this one in and listen to it.

gorgeous cover!

I also got Work in Progress by Staci Hart. The plot looks cute and fun to read – plus cliche (in a good way people), and God know how I love cliche.

I bought the kindle version of The Priority of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. Everyone is raving over this book and since before it was published I was dying to get my hands on it. I’m a bit scared of the size but the reviews are fantastical so I want to read it soon.

Finally, yes people, I’m almost done! I got two free audiobooks Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – which I loved – and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde – sadly, the clean version.

I think I went a bit overboard but, this month I will not buy so I can be able to read all of these beauties (says the girl who just bought Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman and the six volumes of Awkward Silence by Takanaga Hinako).

I hope you all had a wonderful reading haul this past March.

  2. OK, well CLEARLY I need to read the entire Fake Boyfriend series… Do they need to be read in order, or can each be read as a stand-alone?

    1. I would tell you to read in order just because throughout all books past characters are mentioned and it would be easier to know to whom they are referring to. But, I can tell you ALL books are amazing! I loved all of them ❤

  3. Great haul! Your photos are stunning! I really need to give Manga a shot at some point. I only got into graphic novels a little over a year ago.

    1. Thank you ^^ ~ Mangas are a hit or miss for people – much like graphic novels were for me. But, manga have so much different genres and storylines, so well executed too and the art is always a plus! 🙂
